In a broader sense what I think this shows is how gamified the whole political process has become. The Center picks people to run based on whatever their current fortune telling process delivers without, it seems, much regard for the locals. In this case it seems like bad staff work is biting them. Yet it seems strange to me that in an entire state, they can't find one person without a problematic background to run.
Platner's positive contribution to contemporary politics is to reveal the extent to which the far-left, anti-America crowd will go in pursuit of their agenda. One senses that Platner could be accused of rape last week and the true believers would write it off and continue their lemming-like race to the sea.
The irony of course is that there is an obvious method of attack on Susan Collins from the left that I suspect would likely be highly effective in Maine but the Dems either haven't thought of it or can't bear to use it because it's culturally impossible in their party's current state.
And no I'm not going to volunteer it until the day after Collins is re-elected
EIN VOLK! EIN MAINE! EIN PLATNER! 😂😂😂
Your keyboard to the Lord’s ears.

I look forward to Platner’s memoirs of his political struggles: “Maine Kampf”
I also want one of his bumper stickers “Vote for the Nazi. It’s Important.”
I have to say again, why is the DNC wasting money on Platner when Susan Collins already holds the seat?

No matter how low Democrats sink, there is always more room below.
I haven't seen anyone explain how the Democrats could get Platner to drop out after winning the primary.
