Someone noted that Platner is the AWFULs caricature of working class men. Lots of vicarious and real violence. Of course working class men aren't actually like this in the most part but the AWFULs control the Democrat party so here we are.
What strikes me is the stubbornness exhibited by their errors. At some point, if they were rational, episodes like this (or the Biden/Harris debacle, the Anthony Weiner scandal, etc.) would compel them to question the basic premises of their worldview. Yet they would rather be "progressive" than to be right -- their commitments are sentimental, rather than based in objective reality -- and so they keep stumbling from one disaster to another.
No dog in the fight here in LoCali, but it’s very interesting to see it unfold. I’m a lib, and have rooted for Team D quite often. But their political chops are generally lame in the extreme. The ongoing dance between the Clintonian old guard, Obama’s peeps, and the energetic but abrasive young progs can’t arrest the ongoing decline in party affiliation and they seem too clueless and/or spineless to do anything about it. The GOP is similarly afflicted; saw a video of a Texas congressman on 7/3. Asked about affordability as an issue of public concern he went on a lengthy, bloviating disquisition about how he was headed home to bbq rib-eye and lobster tail for the 4th - a total idiot you’d never buy a used car from.
The only substantive response is a 3rd party with the leadership to start small and the tenacity to hang in there until it wins 3-5 House seats. Previous efforts have shot their wad going for the Big Prize but that’s inevitably futile as a first move. A few votes in a tightly contested congress would make deciders out of them, and go far toward undermining the toxic duopoly.
